DETROIT (WKZO) -- A federal judge is scheduled to rule on Detroit’s bankruptcy situation Tuesday.

The ruling will either set the stage for a resolution of the city’s debts or may lead to a financial situation that could exacerbate the city’s problems.  Many experts believe that U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Steven Rhodes will rule that Detroit is eligible for bankruptcy protection.

If Rhodes was to rule the city was ineligible, it could lead to almost 500 lawsuits that have been pending in state and federal courts since being frozen by Rhodes back in July.
