The Tigers lost to the A's 6-3 last night at Comerica Park after the game was suspended in the sixth inning because of rain. Justin Verlander was charged with the loss, giving up five runs, three earned, on four hits while striking out three in five innings. Verlander threw 44 pitches in the first, the most in any single inning in his career. Prince Fielder knocked in two runs on a single in the bottom of the first. Tonight, Doug Fister takes the mound for Detroit, while Dan Straily gets the start for Oakland.
