LANSING, MI (WTVB) -You may have been hearing about it in the news the last few days, sequestration has forced the Head Start Program to cut 47,000 seats in the pre-school program nationwide. That’s 2,200 in Michigan. They have known about it since January, and suspect it’s making the news now because it’s just about to impact people. While they lost those seats, new state funding has added over 700 new slots in the state’s Great Start program. A number of districts still have slots available for 4-year olds and they welcome any parent with a child of pre-school age to inquire about possible opportunities.
