KISS has slapped their name on everything from condoms to coffins, so why not a football team? Like Bon Jovi before them, the group has now become part owners of an Arena Football League team.
The LA KISS , an expansion team, will play in Anaheim, in Southern California, where they haven't had an arena football team in five years. Play will begin in March, with season tickets on sale now for $99 each. All season ticket holders will get to attend a free KISS concert at Anaheim's Honda Center, the team's home arena, in 2014.
In a statement, Gene Simmons said, "As a fast-paced, high-action band, this partnership with the AFL was an obvious fit for us. With Arena Football, you are much closer to the action -- sitting in the front row is like putting a folding chair on the hash mark of an NFL game -– and it’s one of the only sports where you can experience this level of intensity."
He added, "Attending an LA KISS game in 2014 will be similar to a live KISS show, with thrilling, heart-pounding action.”
KISS will celebrate its new partnership by performing at halftime during the ArenaBowl XXVI Championship game this Saturday. The game will air nationally on CBS at 1 p.m. ET.
