Santana requests review of Michigan "Stand Your Ground" law

DETROIT (WKZO) -- State Representative Harvey Santana has sent a letter to Speaker of the House Jase Bolger and Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville asking them to convene a joint meeting of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees to examine the state's “Stand Your Ground” Law. Santana says, “After the acquittal of George Zimmerman for the killing of Trayvon Martin, we have learned that at least one juror feels that although the facts of the case seemed to point to murder, her hands were tied by Florida’s ‘Stand Your Ground’ law.”  Santana says he's asked for this review because it is the duty of the state's legislators to ensure that the laws they pass do the most good for the citizens of the state.
