On Tuesday, Stone Sour released the second installment of their concept double album, House of Gold and Bones . Frontman Corey Taylor says that fans who are enjoying the project shouldn’t expect the guys to make another concept record anytime soon.
“At the moment, this is kind of a one-time thing,” he tells ABC News Radio. “I don’t want to be known as the guy who that’s all I do is concept albums. I had a great idea for this [and] it triggered a lot of great music. I think next time around it’s just gonna come to the point where it’s like, 'What else can we do to challenge ourselves?' Whether it’s a concept album or a whole side of instrumentals or something...the sky’s kinda the limit.”
Taylor adds that he originally thought it was a bit of gamble for the band to release a concept record. “Tackling a project like this, there was no guarantee that anybody was gonna be into this,” he explains. “And the fact that so many of the fans are not only loving Part 1 but, like, so amped for Part 2 I mean, it shows that hard work really paid off.”
In addition to the House of Gold and Bones album, starting April 17, fans will be able to get their hands on the first issue of a comic book mini-series based on the record.
Stone Sour is currently trekking across North America promoting House of Gold and Bones . In This Moment and Hell or Highwater are supporting the band on select dates. Visit StoneSour.com for the full itinerary.
