Six out of every 1,000 babies in Ingham County die before they turn one.  Infant mortality is becoming a top concern for Ingham County Health officials and Ingham County Health Officer Dr. Renee Canady.  Poverty and poor nutrition all play a role. Canady says race does, too. Black babies are five time more likely than white babies to die before their first birthday.
