Blur fans can thank the 2012 London Olympics committee for reuniting the band. Bassist Alex James says that if it wasn’t for their performance at the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony Celebration Concert, the band may have never performed together again.
"The shows we did in 2009 were the best ones we'd ever done and it felt like that was a good place to leave it but then we all felt we couldn't really say no to being part of the Olympics closing ceremony,” James tells U.K. magazine Q in a video interview . “We all enjoyed it so much and it was the trigger to doing some new recordings so the job's a good [one]."
Blur will be releasing a new live CD/DVD set which includes the band’s full-length concert in Hyde Park, titled Parklive , on December 3.
