UNDATED (WKZO) -- Three University of Phoenix locations in West and Central Michigan are included in a plan to phase out 115 facilities around the country by 2014.
Campuses in Portage, Walker and Lansing, and 5 others in the Detroit area will close, leaving a lone Detroit campus.Students will be given the option to move to a remaining campus or finish their degrees online.
The majority of those attending the University of Phoenix are online and enrollment has also dropped as the federal government has tightened loan requirements for this kind of private college. The company expects to save 300-million dollars and do away with 800 positions nationwide, 3 of them in Michigan.
