Muse ’s new album, The 2nd Law , has taken over the #1 spot on the U.K. album chart this week. That's according to the U.K.'s Official Charts Company , which keeps track of record sales. That makes The 2nd Law the fourth fastest-selling album of any artist in the U.K. in 2012, securing the top spot on the tally with 108,000 copies sold its first week out.
Meanwhile, in the U.S. the band is expected to hit #2 on the Billboard 200 album chart on Wednesday, with projected sales putting The 2nd Law somewhere around 110,000 copies. While the album is expected to be Muse’s highest-charting release to date, it’s not their best-selling album. That distinction remains with their previous release, 2009's The Resistance , which sold 128,000 copies its first week out and claimed the #3 spot on the tally.
In addition, Muse has revealed another string of North American tour dates in support of The 2nd Law . Tickets for most of the newly-announced dates go one sale on Friday at 10 a.m. local venue time.
