DETROIT (WTVB) - Testimony in the public corruption trial of Kwame Kilpatrick and four others is expected today from a fundraiser for his campaigns who alleges she paid kickbacks out of her commission checks. An IRS agent has said on the witness stand that Emma Bell received more than 900-thousand dollars from two Kilpatrick committees, while another said Bell admitted she was forced to hand more than a quarter of it to Kilpatrick. The ex-mayor's attorney Jim Thomas says Bell is not believable because of gambling debts and tax problems. The prosecution argues that cashier checks from Bell's personal account followed by Kilpatrick credit card payments support her kickback claim.
