TROY (WKZO) -- The city of Troy and state of Michigan are at odds over whether a special election is required in February to fill the office of mayor for 2013.
Dane Slater was appointed by city council after the recall of Janice Daniels this month, but Michigan Director of Elections Chris Thomas has sent two letters instructing the city to hold a vote. Two people who were unable to file paperwork on Monday as candidates for a mayoral election are considering whether to sue the city to resolve the matter.
