Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell is steaming mad over a recent TMZ article that, while revealing the rocker recently filed for divorce from Julie , his wife of 25 years, also reported that he was seeking to deny spousal support to his ex. In a Facebook post , Campbell admits that he is indeed filing for divorce, while insisting that the allegations regarding spousal support "couldn't be further from the truth."
The guitar whiz writes, "It amazes me what people take for truth. If something is in print, does that automatically make it true?" He continues, "Those who know me will attest that I'm going out of my way to be as generous and accommodating as possible to my ex. However, the damage is done; my character and name are sullied because TMZ chose to publish without checking the facts."
Campbell finishes off with a dig at the tabloid news website, saying, "Personally, I wouldn't drink water from the gutter. Nor would I get my 'news' from the gutter press."
The same TMZ piece also reports that Vivian cited "irreconcilable differences" s the reason he's asking for a divorce, and that he's seeking joint custody of the couple's two daughters, who are 13 and 11 years old.
