DETROIT (WKZO) -- The National Transportation Safety Board is pushing the U.S. government to mandate new safety technologies in all vehicles.

According to officials, the move could dramatically reduce the number of deaths caused by driver distractions.  The agency is pushing for collision-avoidance technologies to be required in every car.

Automakers oppose the mandates saying that they could add thousands of dollars to the cost of a new car or truck.
