DETROIT (WKZO) -- An attorney representing the Detroit Board of Education claims that a lawsuit filed by the state Attorney General's office is "racist."
Attorney George Washington says that the lawsuit to remove seven board members is "racist" and "a fraud." Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette filed a complaint against the board members in August, accusing them of illegally holding office because they were elected by district rather than at-large as state law requires.
Wayne County Circuit Court Judge John Gillis adjourned the case Wednesday, citing pending state legislation that could impact the case.
