DETROIT (WKZO) -- In the wake of last week's election, Highland Park school board member Robert Davis filed a lawsuit asking for the removal of DPS Emergency Financial Manager Roy Roberts. Since the emergency manager law was repealed by voters, Davis says there is no legal authorization for the position.
In the "Detroit Free Press" Davis is quoted saying, "The law in the state of Michigan is very clear." When an act is repealed, it's as if it never existed." In the meantime, Roberts issued a statement last week saying that until the vote is officially certified next month, he will continue to operate under the existing statute.
