Tomorrow is the opener for the Michigan firearm deer season. Hunters are a bit unsure what they will find afield this fall after the DNR released data showing how many deer across mid-Michigan have been killed by a little known disease transmitted by a small midge fly that killed thousands of deer this summer. DNR officials say at least 13,000 deer succumbed to the disease but that number could be much higher.
