MT. PLEASANT, MI (WKZO) -- A Central Michigan University Professor has been suspended and barred from campus after child pornography was found on his university issued computer account.
Professor William Merrill’s research focused on internet censorship and the use of children in Advertising, University staff shut down his internet site when a high volume of traffic suggested it might have been taken over by hackers. When Merrill complained to the IT staff that he couldn’t get on the net, 3 kiddie-porn films were discovered and police were notified.
He is charged with possessing and distributing child pornography and using a computer in the commission of a crime.
He has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of his criminal case and a university investigation.
