Money spent on Michigan campaigns, proposals unprecedented

by

LANSING (WKZO) -- An unprecedented amount of money has been spent on campaigns and ballot proposals in Michigan this year.

An estimated 175-million dollars has been spent on six statewide ballot proposals, plus electoral fights over control of the state House and Supreme Court.  According to officials, the high-profile ballot issues alone total more than 149-million dollars.  The ballot proposal spending dwarfs the 107-million dollars spent in 2010 on all state races, including governor, attorney general, secretary of state, the Legislature and courts.

According to Executive Director of the Michigan Campaign Finance Network, Rich Robinson, millions more in spending remains unaccounted for.
