Presidential campaigns end where they began, arguing over the auto bailout

UNDATED (WKZO) -- The New York Times is reporting that the Presidential campaigns are ending as they began, at least in the Midwest with an argument over the auto bailout.

Candidate Barack Obama charged over the weekend that Mitt Romney started it by claiming in an TV Ad and then on the stump, that the Chrysler bail-out had led to Italian ownership of the automaker, and their plans to move production, particularly Jeep production to China. Obama called it an attempt by Romney to scare voters into voting for him, with false information.

The Romney Campaign countered by insisting the ad was accurate, and that Obama had taken the Automakers into bankruptcy at a loss to taxpayers.

While the statements focused on Detroit, the argument has taken place in Ohio, where one in eight jobs are auto related, and support is pivotal for victory in the Electoral College.
