When Katie Couric left the Today Show on NBC after 15 years, she left a morning show legacy behind. And April 2, she's taking that legacy elsewhere.
Couric is slotted for a week-long guest-hosting gig on CBS' Good Morning America, longtime morning show rival to her news show Alma Mater, Today. Co-host Robin Roberts will be on vacation during Couric's stint. Couric is (perhaps wisely) approaching it all with removed, yet ardent optimism, tweeting the morning away about her temporary venture and her co-host, George Stephanopoulos.
She told her loyal fans via the social media site, ""Rise + shine! Excited to be back on morning TV next wk, guest hosting @GMA w/ @GStephanopoulos. #KatieOnGMA."" She also made sure to express just how daunting her new gig is, ""Serious pressure filling in for the fab @RobinRoberts!""
And while she wouldn't say anything about her former morning show home, and none of her former cohorts have expressed emotions or public messages of any kind, Couric did manage to give fans a glimpse at what her week on GMA will hold with photos of her on set with Robin Roberts and the wild card: an instagram of her testing out DJ Pauly D's gold chain. It's a whole new Katie!
It's clear that Couric is taking to this guest gig like a fish to early morning water, so only one question remains: can her repartee with Stephanopoulos live up to her years of newsy chemistry with Today's Matt Lauer?
