POLKTON TOWNSHIP (WHTC) - A 29-year-old Grand Haven man is dead after his car was pulled from the Grand River in Polkton Township Chrismtas Day. Lawrence Stearns was found inside his car about 6 p.m. near the Bur Oak Landing. He had been reported missing when he failed to show for a family Christmas Eve gathering. Family members say he had been checking trap lines in the area. The Ottawa County dive team was called out Tuesday afternoon after a canoeist found a submerged car in the river. It’s not known what went wrong.
