KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- It’s another successful year for the greater Kalamazoo Holiday Food Drive after deliveries on Saturday to some 15-hundred needy families in the Kalamazooarea chosen by local human service and charitable organizations. The annual holiday food campaign, which is one of the largest in the state, hit its 20th anniversary this year.
What began as a small effort between a group of Public Safety Officers and a school to help out a few dozen families, has now grown into a massive community wide effort, to make sure that the families have food for a week, including a big Christmas dinner.
Every year hundreds of volunteers come out to sort and pack and deliver the food to the designated families.
