UPDATE:
VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO) -- Van Buren County Sheriff Dale R Gribler says his Deputies, with the assistance of the Michigan State Police, located Matthew Brady walking eastbound on I-94 near the Kalamazoo County line at about 5:40 Sunday morning.
He was taken into custody without incident. Brady is being held for escape from Lawful Custody and a Parole Violation he is currently lodged at the Van Buren County Jail awaiting arraignment.
ORIGINAL STORY:
KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Maybe he just didn’t want to spend Christmas in Jail, but a Kalamazoo man is being sought by Van Buren County authorities after he walked away from the Van Buren County Jail in Paw Paw.
They say 28-year-old Matthew Albert Brady was a trustee, who just walked away from a job spreading salt on the sidewalks near the jail on Friday. He had just 6 days left to go on a Friend of the Court Charge.
He has a Kalamazoo County address and relatives in the area.
He is not a violent offender. Brady is a white male, 5 ft 11 , brown hair and blue eyes, wearing jail issue green pants and a lime green shirt with a brown Carhart Coat and an orange knit cap.
If seen or information is found on his whereabouts please notify the Van Buren County sheriff Dept at 269-657-3101. This incident is still being investigated.
