Dozens of Michigan schools have started an early holiday break today by canceling classes for thousands of students to cool off rumored threats of violence and problems related to doomsday scenarios, some based on the Mayan calendar. In the Lansing school district, Everett High School reopened Thursday after a brief lockdown there. Lansing police say three men who were fleeing a school police officer gained access to the school with a pellet-type gun triggering the lockdown. The school is open today.
