Protesters attempt statement with silence over right-to-work legislation

LANSING (WKZO) -- Silent protests are being held around the state by opponents of Michigan's new right-to-work law.

Events are planned in downtown Detroit, Saginaw, Kalamazoo, and Lansing with protestors wearing duct tape over their mouths.  A statement released by representatives of the movement say their demonstration is to highlight how "divisive" the issue is in the state.

Governor Rick Snyder signed two bills into law, one dealing with private employees and the other that covered public workers. Snyder says the right to work law is "pro-worker" and gives unions a chance to demonstrate their worth to workers.
