Bad news for Rage Against the Machine fans: guitarist Tom Morello says that the band may never perform together again.
"Whether or not we ever play music again in any capacity is unknown,” Morello tells Rolling Stone . “I'm grateful for the music we played together. For me, as a fan, not just as a member of the band, it's some of the most exciting stuff I've ever had the pleasure to hear, let alone to be a part of.”
The guitarist adds that he hoped RATM would celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of their self-titled debut album with a “five-continent world tour,” but it seems that the band wasn’t into the idea. “Once a year, the band meets and very seriously discusses and turns down awesome offers to tour the world,” he explains. “That's part of the program.”
Morello also reveals that the band might never record any new material either, noting that the group’s “combustible chemistry” is preventing the guys from making any new albums. “If it were up to me, I would've made two records a year,” he notes. “As it is, we have just three records of original material over 20 years.”
