MIDLAND, Mich (WLMI)  Anthony DeSclafani retired the final eleven batters he faced and struck out seven in the Lansing Lugnuts’ (27-20, 74-42) 10-6 victory over the Great Lakes Loons (22-27, 56-63) on Sunday afternoon at Dow Diamond.

DeSclafani (Win, 10-3) allowed three runs in the first inning before the Loons loaded the bases with no outs in the second. DeSclafani escaped that jam by striking out Pedro Guerrero and inducing a double-play groundball from O’Koyea Dickson.

The Lugnuts starter would not allow another baserunner the rest of the afternoon. The righty worked five innings, allowed six hits and three runs, walked one and was one strikeout shy of his career-high.

Lansing’s offense scored four runs in the fourth inning off Loons starter Raydel Sanchez (Loss, 3-7) who worked four innings, allowed seven hits, five total runs but just two earned while walking a pair and striking out none.

Lansing hit five doubles and two home runs. All nine starters either scored a run or drove in a run.

K.C. Hobson scored a run and drove in a run in addition to delivering two doubles in five at-bats. Nick Baligod drove in a pair and smashed a double in a 2-for-4 day. Gustavo Pierre smacked an RBI double and scored in the fourth inning. Shane Opitz recorded a double and a run scored in the sixth.

Michael Crouse hit a two-run homer and scored twice as part of a 2-for-5 afternoon. Andy Fermin reached twice including his first home run of the year.

The Lugnuts bullpen had tossed ten consecutive scoreless innings after Kramer Champlin tossed three scoreless innings out of the Lugnuts bullpen while striking out three. Aleson Escalante surrendered three runs in the bottom of the ninth before locking up the Lugnuts victory.

The Lugnuts go for the three-game series sweep on Monday, August 13th at 7:05 p.m. Jesse Hernandez (4-5, 2.41) will throw for the Lugnuts. Gustavo Gomez (6-8, 5.84) will start for the Loons.

Lansing returns home on Wednesday, August 15th at 7:05 p.m., opening a three-game set against the Fort Wayne TinCaps. The series opener is a Ladies Night, featuring food and drink specials as well as salon services from City Salon.  Tickets are available for purchase online at www.lansinglugnuts.com, at the Cooley Law School Stadium box office, and by calling 517-485-4500.
