'Godzilla' trailer leaked, but not for long

by Greg Belfrage

The internet has been ablaze this week with sci-fi geeks frantically searching for an unreleased trailer of "Godzilla". Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures will produce the reboot, scheduled to be released on May 16, 2014.

The unreleased trailer popped up quickly on Youtube, Vimeo, Dailymotion and the other major video sharing websites. Warner Brothers' legal department flew into action and the trailer was removed from nearly every major site almost as fast it went up.  However, its hard to put the genie back in the bottle once it's escaped. The trailer is still available on a few sites.

I'm not posting any "Godzilla" video or photos here at Tech Geek Blog, as we don't want the Warner Brothers' legal machine coming down on our necks.  However, we're posting some off-site links below if you'd like to see more.

Many fans are angry that Warner Brothers is clamping down so hard on the release of the teaser. The teaser is cool, but its hardly a show stopper.

Personally, I think Warner Brothers is crazy like a fox. Everyone loves forbidden fruit. And the more Warner Brothers fights to keep the material offline...the more people will fight to get it online and keep talking about it.

Yes, I realize that I've played right into Warner Brother's hand by giving them additional publicity. So sue me.
