Jack White Saves Historic Venue from Foreclosure

by Amber Lee

Jack White saved the historic venue, the Detroit Masonic Temple, by anonymously paying off the $142,000 they owned in back taxes. White played The Temple several times and has a personal link to it. Growing up, his parents used to usher shows. No doubt, he spent some time their as a boy.

The reason we know Jack White made the donation is because the Masonic Temple Association was so touched, they announced they were renaming the buildings Cathedral Theater to the "Jack White Theater." The building has various theaters within, and hosts Broadway shows as well as concerts.
