Emotion is a very powerful thing. The Spartans pulled out an OT win over Notre Dame and everyone including myself were thriled about the victory and also the way the team did it. It was a gutsy call.
Fast forward to the early morning hours of Sunday, Setember 19. Mark Dantonio knows his body and knows that something just wasn't right. As we all know, he suffered a heart attack.
As a fan of the Spartans I was shocked when I heard the news and thought "holy crap, I hope he's alright". Mark will be fine, and I feel like the team is going to rise up in support of their coach. I also think that they will win at home this Saturday. If coach Dantonio isn't on the sidelines for the Big Ten opener against Wisconsin (nor is he cleared by his doctors to have any role as coach) I think that the team will take everything they have learned from him and will demonstrate a focused gameplan against their opponents.
There is no better way, in my opinion, to repay your coach for all that he has taught you and your teammates then with a huge win! Now more then ever the Spartans must be focusing on each and every component of the game of football and the life lessons that Mark has taught them.
Emotion and a great mentor will keep the spirit of the Spartans strong! Go Green!
