STINGRAY: 10-Year-Old Recovering After Freak Accident

A 10-year-old Maryland boy is recovering after being stung by a stingray in a freak accident over the weekend. While on vacation with his family last week at the Outer Banks in North Carolina, Quentin Tokar was watching as a fisherman attempted to remove a four-inch barb from a stingray. Somehow the barb flew into the air and struck the boy in his stomach, piercing his liver. He was initially treated at a hospital in Norfolk, Virginia and later transferred to Johns Hopkins where he was treated for a subsequent infection.
