These are the movies released in theaters Friday January 11th, 2013
Gangster Squad - Rated R
Josh Brolin and Ryan Goslin (pause for swooning) lead a LAPD Squad against Sean Penn in the 1950’s. This looks over the top. I am reminded of Al Pacino’s Big Boy from Dick Tracy watching Penn in the trailer. None of this is a bad thing, I just means that this should be an entertaining 90 minutes.
Verdict - The star quality will make this watchable. Any effort should make this good.
A Haunted House - Rated R
Yawn . . . uhh next please
Verdict - Stop trying to be Scary Movie. You are never going to be as good as Scary Movie.
Zero Dark Thirty - Rated R
This is “the real” story of the hunt for Osama bin Laden. We will never know this how this story actually happened but we do have this movie. There are a lot of controversy due to its point of view and its use of torture. Congress is investigating what information the CIA gave the producer of this movie. I know that director Kathryn Bigelow does great war films. She direct The Hurt Locker. Plus I want to know this story.
Verdict - This should be thought provoking and entertaining. I wonder how much of this story I will believe after I am done watching.

Frankenweenie - Rated PG
Tim Burton brings us this story of a Boy bringing back his dog from the dead. Sounds scary but this movie is heartwarming.
Dredd - Rated R
Karl Urban makes us forget that Sylvester Stallone ever made a Judge Dredd movie in the 90’s. This is what Dredd should and has always been.
Next week the return of Arnold, Liam Neeson goes on the defensive, and Russell Crowe has Marky Mark take pictures of his wife. Disturbing.
