Mac D's Most Anticipated Movies of 2013

Posted by Mac D on

There is much to look forward to in 2013.  New Thor, Iron Man, and Hobbit movies plus the return of Superman to the big screen.  Here are a listing of movies that have specifically peaked my interest. Release dates are subject to change.

Evil Dead (2013) - April 12, 2013
Evil Dead (2013)
Evil Dead was one of those great 1980’s Horror Movies that could use an update.  The effects are terrible.  And now we are almost here.  This remake will have nothing to do with Bruce Campbell’s Ash but I am very cautious when thinking about this movie.  I want to go in with low expectations, not high ones.

Iron Man 3 - May 3, 2013
Iron Man 3
Shane Black takes over for John Favreau in the directors chair.  This will be good but I am excited to finally see Iron Man arch nemesis, The Mandarin on my screen played by Ben Kingsley.

Star Trek Into Darkness - May 17, 2013
Star Trek Into Darkness
I loved the Star Trek reboot.  Not much is known about this new movie but I am slightly disappointed not to see any classic races like the Klingons used.  I will be able to deal with it.

Man Of Steel - June 14, 2013
Man Of Steel
WB has rebooted Superman with Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Trilogy) producing.  I am not a huge Superman fan.  I am looking forward to this but would have rather wanted a different villain other the General Zod to be used.  When am I going to see Brainiac in a live action movie?

Kick Ass 2 - June 28, 2013
Kick-Ass 2
We get more teenagers fighting crime VIOLENTLY.  This movie will be about bringing teams to the table but more importantly is Jim Carrey having a role.  And it isn’t the Mask.

The Long Ranger - July 3, 2013
The Lone Ranger
HI-YO SILVER AWAY!  This movie reunites Director Gore Verbinski and Johnny depp.  They made several Pirates Of The Caribbean movies together.  I think Depp is an odd choice for Tonto but I will reserve judgement until I see this.

Pacific Rim - July 12, 2013
Pacific Rim
Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Blade 2, Pan’s Labyrinth) directs Charlie Hunnam (Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy) in a big budget alien invasion movie.  SIGN ME UP!!!  I wonder just how big Pacific Rim will be in 2013.

The Wolverine - July 26, 2013
The Wolverine
We are in for another dose of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.  This time the film is set in Japan and directed by James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma & Walk The Line).  The Japan story line is one of the best solo Wolverine stories ever.  I just want this to be better then X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For - October 4, 2013
Sin City: A Dame To Kill For
7 years later, one of my all time favorite movies finally gets a sequel.  Everyone from Directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller to actors Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen ETC are back.  I just hope the public hasn’t forgotten how good Sin City is.

Ender’s Game - November 1, 2013
Ender's Game
Finally we get a big screen adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s book about teens fighting an alien menace.  I read this book in grade school and am wondering how they will adapt this.

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug - December 13, 2013
The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug
Though I was a bit disappointed with the 1st instalment of the Hobbit, I am more then ready for part 2.  We will get to see the giant dragon and Ian McKellan play Gandalf more.

Anchorman: The Legend Continues - December 20, 2013
Anchorman: The Legend Continues
I hope for another Bilingual Blood Bath.  Say what you will about Will Ferrell but if this is half as good as Anchorman was, we will be happy.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation - March 29, 2013
G.I. Joe: Retaliation
I have liked G.I. Joe since I was 6 years old.  Enough Said.
