I watched a lot of movies in 2012. There were a lot of good ones but plenty of bad ones. Here are 5 of the worst movies I saw in 2012. I won’t rank them because I am too hungover.
John Carter - Rated PG-13
I wanted John Carter to be better than this. While visually stunning, this film suffers from terrible acting and pacing. This book could take the time to have John Carter befriend the green martians. Instead in the movie it takes 2 minutes for everybody to be blood brothers. I also was not too entertained by leading man Taylor Kitsch. I wonder when Hollywood will give up on this guy.
Project X - Rated R
So we are “treated” to a hand held camera, giant teenage party movie. I never really like giant teen party movies that become unrealistic really quick. They did send riot police on this party. But the characters sucked too. The guy I was suppose to get behind, i didn’t really care about and his loud mouth friend was just obnoxious and annoying. There are hot chicks and boobies but not enough to save Project X.
Snow White And The Huntsman - Rated PG-13
I have never seen the Twilight movies. People always make fun of Kristen Stewart having one expression on her face all the time. I never really believed this was possible until I saw Snow White. Lets forget the fact that I hate they turned the story of Snow White into a dumb medieval warfare movie. Kristen Stewart was just horrible. My cardboard cut out of Homer Simpson could show more emotional range. The only saving grace was Charlize Theron who was having way too much fun playing the evil queen in this film. Theron herself almost made this watchable.
Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance - Rated PG-13
Why does Nicolas Cage keep on getting work? This movie is not bad due to Mr. Cage’s acting ability. I mostly hated this due to the script. Ghost Rider is not a mindless vengeance machine. Johnny Blaze is not a over the top psychopath. The villain Blackout reminded me of the 1960’s Batman Villains. Everything was over done and campy. Hopefully they either reboot Ghost Rider with Marvel at the helm or just leave it alone.
The Campaign - Rated R
I think my problem with The Campaign is that I remember Will Ferrell from Anchorman and Zack Galifianakis from The Hangover. Both these guys are much funnier then this script let them be. Instead of poking fun at the political process we see a movie that is taking shots at both political parties. And the satire was not that clever. We get it, Democrats like the ladies and some Republicans are run by corporations. Given the talent involved, a little bit more effort would be required to make this funny.
