This week a Dr Seuss movie, something you can probably see on youtube, and ton of Oscar winning and nominated moives.
These are the movies that will be released on Friday, March 2nd, 2012
Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax – Rated PG
Basted on the Boob by Dr Seuss, Ted (Zac Efron) wants to get a real tree to impress Audrey (Taylor Swift). He does this with the aid of The Lorax (Dan DeVito). This is the 4th feature film based on a Seuss book. While I loath the life action films, animation medium seems more Dr. Seuss’ style. Plus I love the fact that Danny DeVito is in a staring role.
Verdict – Looks good but I am afraid I will forget about The Lorax two weeks later.
Project X – Rated R
Three High School friends throw a party that grows widely out of control. This is filmed in the style of the Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield. I would reject this movie because a huge high school party film has been done to death. Hopefully the first person perspective gives us a fresh take on things.
Verdict – I looks like a lot of sex and drinking jokes. I have grown tired of sex and drinking jokes.
With the Oscars this past Sunday its only normal that some of the nominees would get a second life. This gives you a chance to see what all the hub bub was about. They include The Artist – Rated PG-13 (Winner Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director, Nominated Best Supporting Actress),The Iron Lady- Rated PG-13 (Winner Best Actress),,My Week With Marilyn– Rated R (Nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor),The Descendants – Rated R (Winner Best Adapted Screenplay, Nominated Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director)
Box Office Top 5 Movies In The Country
1. Act Of Valor – Rated R
2. Good Deeds – Rated PG-13
3. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island - Rated PG
4. Safe House - Rated R
5. The Vow - Rated PG-13
Act Of Valor killed at the box office. My father saw it and wants to see it again in theaters. I don’t recall him ever seeing anything twice in theaters. It out grossed Good Deeds and Journey 2 combined. Tyler Perry didn’t do too well with Good Deeds. That film was a low grossing Tyler Perry film. It not having Medea probably had something to do with it.
Still In Theatres
Big Miracle – Rated PG, Chronicle – Rated PG-13, Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance – Rated PG-13, Gone – PG-13, The Grey – Rated R, Red Tails – Rated PG-13, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace in 3D - Rated PG, The Secret World Of Arrietty – Rated G, This Means War – Rated PG-13, Underworld: Awakening – Rated R, Wanderlust – Rated, War Horse – Rated PG-13, Woman In Black – PG-13
These are the movies released on DVD Tuesday February, 28th 2012
Hugo – Rated PG
This is another big Oscar movie. It won several technical awards and was nominated for Best Picture and Best Director. This is still a story of a boy trying to finish his fathers dream to create a 1930’s robot.
Johnny English Reborn – Rated PG
Not sure why anyone wanted to make this sequel to the 2003 movie Johnny English. This time around Johnny English has to stop an assassination plot against the Chinese Premier.
Next week one of the worst movies of 2011 comes home on DVD, the 1st of my most anticipated films of 2012 is released, and Eddie Murphy might make an appearance.
