This week a “Aliens” “prequel”, more wackiness from the Madagascar crew, and sold action flicks come home.
These Are the Movies That Will Be Released on Friday June 8th, 2012
Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted - Rated PG
The Madagascar crew try to escape to New York but find themselves in a European Circus. I have never seen any of the Madagascar movies. However they must be doing something right as there is TV series based the Penguins. It looks funny but I never remember to check it out at another time.
Verdict – I won’t see this until it appears on TV and I am bored. This just is not my demographic
Prometheus - Rated R

A space crew of archaeologists goes to a distant planet to find the origins of man. They find terror instead. The all-star cast features Michael Fassbender, Idiris Elba, Noomi Papace, Guy Pearce, and Charlize Theorn. This marks the return of Ridley Scott to the Sci-Fi genre. He is the director of Alien and Blade Runner. He still has it but hasn’t done sci-fi in a long time. This movie also deals with some of the origins of the Alien franchise. There are three reasons right three that I am running not walking to a cinema and seeing this A.S.A.P.
Verdict – This is an early contender to Best Horror movie of 2012. Let’s hope Ridley Scott still has it.
Box Office Top 5 Movies In The Country
1. Snow White and The Huntsman - Rated PG-13
2. Men in Black 3 – Rated PG-13
3. The Avengers - Rated PG-13
4. Battleship – Rated PG-13
5. The Dictator – Rated R
Snow White made around $56 million last weekend making it one of the top 5 openings of the year. I am not really surprised. In the summer movies like these will open big but how long will it last in theaters? I have heard good things and I still think I will see this during its first run. MIB 3 is still doing respectable business and The Avengers can buy and sell you at will.
Still In Theatres
Battlefield America - Rated PG-13, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel – Rated PG-13, Chernobyl Diaries – Rated R, Chimpanzee - Rated G, Dark Shadows - Rated PG-13, For Greater Glory - Rated R, The Hunger Games – Rated PG-13, The Lucky One – Rated PG-13, The Pirates! Band Of Misfits- Rated PG, What to Expect When You’re Expecting – Rated PG-13
These are the movies released on DVD Tuesday June 5th, 2012.
John Carter - Rated PG-13

A Civil War vet is taken to Mars to help defend the Red Planet. This is labeled as the first box office bomb of 2012. Though the books are well loved apparently this movie is not. I am ready to judge for myself.
Act Of Valor - Rated R

Navy Seals help fight Terrorism at home and abroad. The Seals are played by real Navy Seals. This action film wasn’t well received by critics but was by movie fans. Those are the only people that count.
Safe House - Rated R

Ryan Reynolds tries to keep Denzel Washington in captivity but it doesn’t work so well. The plot might not be well developed but the performance from Denzel more than makes up for any flaws.
Next week more Sherlock Holmes, Adam Sandler releases a new movie and Tom Cruise sings Guns N’ Roses. I am not looking forward to that.
