"I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families."
The Dark Knight Rises Director Christopher Nolan
Better words have not been spoke. After the tragedy in Colorado I feel like a safe haven for my self is no longer safe. I worry that people will no longer find the movie theater a place of joy but a place of fear. I have been to the movies since this tragedy and I have noticed that there has been heightened security. I wonder what the lasting effects will be. I hope in time we can move on. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families from Aurora Colorado. Though my thoughts were on current events I could still enjoy the show.
The Dark Knight Rises - Rated PG-13 - REVIEW
Batman (Christian Bale) must enlist the help of Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) to do battle with Bane (Tom Hardy) who is trying to take over Gotham City. I don't know where to begin. Every inch of this movie is amazing. Bale further proves that he is the best Batman of all time, as the years have finally broken Bruce Wayne mentally. Hathaway is probably the most faithful adaptation of Selina Kyle ever. She is very street smart and untrusting on the surface. However there is something better deep with in. I have never seen Catwoman's moral struggle depicted so clearly. Though there is no whip. DC Comics Bane wishes he was Tom Hardy's Bane. Bane has a brain and is calculating and charismatic. But he can still beat the crap out of any one. The plot is engrossing and entertaining. I am a long time Batman fan and even I had trouble guessing what was coming next. I came out satisfied. Before the Dark Knight Rises I was pessimistic about a reboot. Now I await anxiously await some one else's take.
Verdict - The Dark Knight Rises is almost flawless. It is the best Batman movie of the lot and perhaps one of the best movies I have seen in years. 10/10
Out of respect of every one hurt in Thursdays tragedy, I will not comment on anything else this week.
