Welcome to the Weekend Movie Guide, now rant free. I was able to see Safe House over the weekend. I enjoyed it. Denzel Washington was great but Ryan Reynolds was better. This week another Marvel Superhero movie, a anime, and a movie I will probably never EVER watch
These are the movies that will be released on Friday, February 17th, 2011
Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance – Rated PG-13
Nicholas Cage is back as Johnny Blaze who made a pack with the devil that turns him into the Ghost Rider. This time out Johnny is approached to save a boy from the Devil (Ciaran Hinds) and the villain Blackout. I tried really hard to like the first Ghost Rider. For the most part was cool but watered down and I did not enjoy the western elements. I enjoyed Nicholas Cage enough to see this again though the trailers make it seem exactly like the first.
Verdict – With Sons Of Anarchy not on TV, this may have to be my biker fix.
The Secret World Of Arrietty – Rated G
This is the English language release of the Japanese Anime about a boy who finds creatures called Borrowers living under his house and the lengths he goes to protect him. This was universally praised in Japan. My taste in Anime leads more towards this then a series. I am looking forward to seeing this at some point.
Verdict – I hope that this is as good as Spirited Away or Howl’s Moving Castle.
This Means War – Rated PG-13
Two CIA agents (Chris Pine and Tom Hardy) discover that they are dating the same woman (Reese Witherspoon) Along with Chelsea Handler the cast looks good. However the premise seems tired and the trailer makes me think Witherspoon is going through the motions. At very lest it should be entertaining but I am not 100% sure This Means Ware will be entertaining.
Verdict – Could be a good date movie but that would be the only reason I see this.
Box Office Top 5 Movies In The Country

2. Safe House - Rated R
3. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island - Rated PG
4. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace in 3D - Rated PG

I have since relaxed some what on Star Wars and am happy to see that even with the huge marketing blitz all the movie could get was 4th. Attack of the Clones will be next year so I will have to endure this at a later date. I am surprised The Vow took 1st and it interests me more.

The Rum Diary – Rated R
Based on a novel from Hunter S Tompson Johnny Depp drinks tons of rum and chases women. Hey that was my Saturday night. Not as good as Fear and Loathing but still worth a peak.
The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence) – Note Rated (and its for a reason)
This is about a psycho who is obsessed with the first movie. I never want to be the “B”. This is the sequel to a horror movie that grosses me out enough to never want to see it or the sequel. Now you can gross out your family.
Next week a cat that is too cute, Navy Seals kick ass, and damn dirty hippies.
