Saturday UFC President Dana White announced that the UFC parent company Zuffa LLC has purchased Strikeforce, the UFC major competition in the US. As of right now White stated that Strikeforce would operate as a separate entity. Sure that worked well for Pride and the WEC (who will merge with the UFC this year). In all honesty that will probably be the truth for the next couple of years, Strikeforce’s contract with Showtime runs out in 2014. Scott Coker will continue to act as CEO for Strikeforce. There might be interpromotional fights but not right away. For the most part Zuffa has every elite fighter under contact now.
I wonder what will happen to the Strikeforce brand. Will it expand or will it continue its contracts and then merge with the UFC? I don’t know Strikeforce’s future. I hope to continue with the women’s division because chicks fighting are hot.
