Welcome to the weekend movie guide. This week Aaron Eckhardt tries the action hero route, ZOMBIES!, and Mars does not need women but moms.
These are the movies that were released on Friday, March 11th, 2011
Battle: Los Angeles - Rated PG-13
Aliens are invading and our only hope is Aaron Eckhart. Previews make it look more realistic then what we have seen from other alien invasion movies. This invasion movie will be put on the shoulders of Aaron Eckhart. If he can pull us in and make us care about whats happening then it should be entertaining.
Verdict - Probably not seeing this first or second weekend. Hopefully it hangs around for a third.
Red Riding Hood – Rated PG-13

Yes, just like the fairy tail except for more adult. It stars Amanda Seyfried in the title role. Instead of a wolf, its a werewolf being tracked by Gary Oldman. This is all directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight 1). While the original tale are very dark, i grow concerned that this will be all style and no substance.
Verdict - Amanda Seyfried’s beauty wont draw me in. I hope it is better then I think it is.
Mars Needs Moms – Rated PG
Milo’s mom is kidnapped my martians because they need moms. Milo goes to mars to get his mom back. This was created using performance capture techniques and the main character Milo was created by Seth Green but voiced by Seth Dusky. Another March children’s movie that some will enjoy but will get lost in the shuffle in the long run.
Verdict - Its no Mars Needs Women, I may check it out on DVD if the mood should strike me.
Box Office Top 5 Movies In The Country
1. Rango – Rated PG
2. The Adjustment Bureau – Rated PG-13
3. Beastly – Rated PG-13
4. Hall Pass – Rate R
5. Gnomeo & Juliet – Rated G
Take Me Home Tonight did not even make the top ten which surprised me but I guess that means it was not very good. Other then that nothing too abnormal in the top ten. I wonder how Rango will do in the long run. I have heard nothing but good things about it.
Still In Theatres
Cedar Rapids – Rated R, Drive Angry – Rated R, I Am Number 4 – Rated PG-13, Just Go With It – Rated PG-13, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never – Rated G, Take Me Home Tonight – Rated R, The King’s Speech - Rated R, Unknown – Rated PG-13
These are the movies released on DVD the week of March 8th, 2010
Walking Dead Season 1
ZOMBIES!!!! Walking Dead is one of the more original TV series to come around in a while. Its all about human reactions and situations in the face of a zombie apocalypse. Its very low episode count leaves me wanting a ton more. You should be able to get through everything in one long, lazy afternoon.
Morning Glory – Rated PG-13
Rachel McAdams is producing a morning show with Diane Keton and Indian Jones himself Harrison Ford. Thought not really a romantic comedy the movie is more about the relationship between For and McAdams which has me sold despite not doing well at the box office.
Jackass 3D – Rated R
More stuff from the Jackass crew. NOW IN 3D. I wasn't amused by this stuff fifteen years ago and I am not amused now.
Next week we will see if Seth Rogen can ruin the chemistry between Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead and Hotfuzz), Marky Mark as a boxer comes to DVD , and Matthew McConaghey plays a lawyer. Hopefully a lawyer who keeps his shirt on.
