Welcome to the Weekend Movie Guide. This week is all about the guy movies as Nicholas Cage runs around in a car with guns, Owen Wilson is back, and
These are the movies that were released on Friday, February 25th, 2011
Drive Angry – Rated R

Based on the trailer alone I was sold. I haven’t cared for Nicholas Cage’s sci fi/ fantasy films as of late but I saw Drive Angry and I thought “Ok Nick Cage is back with a fun action film with lots of violence SCORE”. Then I saw the plot. Cage plays a guy who breaks out of hell to save his granddaughter from a cult who killed his daughter. He is pursued by a demon (William Fichtner). Hopefully it all comes together because the trailer looks fun.
Verdict – Leave the ladies at home because its fast cars, fast women, and tons of violence. I am cautiously looking forward to this one.
Hall Pass – Rate R

Two guys (Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis) get a week off from marriage to go do what single guys do. Does that mean they are going to order pizza and cry? Written and Directed by the Farrelly Brothers (Dumb and Dumber, There’s Something About Mary) I suspect this will be enjoyable and very raunchy.
Verdict – Take a time out from your marriage to go see this movie.
Box Office Top 5 Movies In The Country
1. Unknown – Rated PG-13
2. Gnomeo & Juliet – Rated G
3. I Am Number 4 – Rated PG-13
4. Just Go With It – Rated PG-13
5. Big Mammas: Like Father, Like Son – Rated PG-13
Just when I thought Bieber was going to change my views on concert movies he drops from the top 5. The new Big Mammas kind of bombed only coming in fifth. Gnomeo & Juliet also surprised me but it is the only children’s movie in theatres right now. How will stand up to Rango next week? Hopefully the lawn gnomes go away so I don’t have to cringe when I think about them. Unknown did well as expected.
Still In Theatres
Black Swan -Rated R, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never – Rated G, No String Attached - Rated R, Sanctum - Rated R, The Eagle – Rated PG-13, The Fighter - Rated R, The King’s Speech - Rated R, The Mechanic - Rated R, The Roommate – Rate PG-13, True Grit - Rated PG-13
These are the movies released on DVD the week of February 22nd, 2010
Due Date - Rated R

Being a fan of Robert Downey Jr, Zach Galifianakis, and director Todd Phillips I would already recommend this road trip comedy. But the Q106’s own Andy Green said he loved it. You do not get a better recommendation then that.
Megamind – Rated PG

This film got mixed reviews which is good for a children’s movie. I am interested to see this given the huge cast that includes Will Ferrel, Tina Fey, and Brad Pitt
Next week a pissed off The Rock comes home, Johnny Depp is a lizard, and Matt Damon is having his life controlled by the government. He better channel his inner Jason Bourne to get out of this situation. See you guys next week.
