Mac D's Weekend Movie Guide for 2/4/2011

Posted by Mac D on

I bet you are all sick of snow like my self.  So with weekend I shall distract myself with movies.  This week

These are the movies that were released on Friday, February 4th, 2011

Sanctum - Rated R

Sanctum

A bunch of people go exploring a deep cave.  A storm collapses the entrance and they have to find another way out.  Based on a true story. Shot in 3D.  The plot as a very been there done that feel to it.  Its like the Decent with out the mole people.  James Cameron has his name attached so I don’t think it will be quite that bad

The Verdict – While I do not expect this to be terrible I also do not expect it to be good.  I will try to get a real 3D experience.

The RoommateRate PG-13

The Roommate

One chick becomes obsessed with her roommate and starts causing trouble.  Billy Zane co-stars.  The fact that instead of going the thriller route (which would make this exactly like Single White Female), there is a bit of a horror element which should draw some of the kids.  Horror fans will crap all over this and I don’t blame them

The Verdict –I would go if you are a hot chick that wants to see a horror film.  Then stick close to Mac D and scream if you like

Box Office Top 5 Movies In The Country
1. The Rite - Rated PG-13
2. No String Attached - Rated R
3. The Mechanic - Rated R
4. Green Hornet  - Rated PG-13
5. The King’s Speech - Rated R

I am surprised that both new movies from last week are in the top two.  I figured that one of the would bomb (ok I am talking about The Rite).  It goes to show the power of horror when released right.  Thought critics have not been kind.  The King’s Speech hangs on in the top five for another week.  I wonder if it will ever rise above 5.

Let Me InRated R

Let Me In

Another great horror film form 2010 comes to DVD.  If you missed out on it, pick it up, and also pick up a nightlight because you are going to need it.

ConvictionRated R

Conviction

Hilary Swank work to put her self through law school so her brother, Sam Rockwell, can be freed.  This is based on a true story.  Swank by her self would make me want to see it eventually but add Sam Rockwell and it will go to the top of my list

Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2Rated G

Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2

Wait they made a sequel?  Why do people want to see a movie about talking rats?  This should cure my insomnia.

Next week Adam Sandler creeps me out a touch, Katherine Heighl does yet another romantic comedy, and Hollywood kills Shakespeare.  Joy.  I cant’ wait.  No wait I am being sarcastic.
