This week a movie about a holiday I didn’t think needed a movie about it, George Clooney looking hansom, and drunken mischief on DVD
These are the movies that will be released on Friday December, 9th 2011
New Years Eve – Rated PG-13
The lives of Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Robert De Niro, Cary Elwes, Aston Kutcher, Ryan Seacrest, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Hilary Swank all have intersecting stories that revolved on or about New Year’s Eve. Very similar to the film Valentine’s Day. With a cast list above fifty I wonder if they spend enough time on a single story to make me care about it.
Verdict – I would rather spend New Year’s Eve drinking instead of trying to figure out what is going on.
The Sitter – Rated R
A college student (Jonah Hill) gets roped into baby sitting three kids. His girlfriend wants to have sex with him so he drapgs his wards across down to get some action and gets tied up with gangster and drugs. Jonah Hill described this as the adult opposite of the 80’s classic Adventures In Baby Sitting. I can buy that but will this film have Thor? Based on the trailers it seems like this film is trying way too hard to be edgey. Nothing is ever funny when it’s forced.
Verdict – Every time I laugh at a scene in this movie I tell my self “No Mac D, Do not encourage them”
The Descendants – Rated R
George Clooney stars as a man whose wife goes into a coma and he has to start trying to mend his relationship with his daughters. He also finds out that his wife was having an affair. This is both a comedy and drama something I love to watch George Clooney in. Critics love The Descendants and now its start winning awards.
Verdict – This should be funny and touch me in ways that George Clooney should not be touching me in.
Box Office Top 5 Movies In The Country
1. Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 – Rated PG-13
2. The Muppets – Rated PG
3. Hugo – Rated PG
4. Arthur Christmas – Rated PG
5. Happy Feet 2 – Rated PG
Third straight week at # 1 for Twilight. . . . joy. Sparkely vampires and shirtless werewolves have racked in $250 million dollars. Hugo jumps for 3rd. I have heard good things so word of mouth is working. Though it still droped 33% from last week

The Hangover II – Rated R
The wolf pack is back but this time they are in Bangkok. A friend told me that this is just like The Hangover but more gross. That could be good or bad, mostly good.
Cowboys & Aliens – Rated PG-13
Aliens abduct cowboys and piss off Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. Bad move aliens. I heard unkind things about this movie, but I have yet to see a Harrison Ford film that I truly hated.
The Help – Rated PG-13
The summer sleeper hit is on DVD as Emma Stone stars as a young writer in the 60’s writing about “the help”. It never looked good to me but then it kept making money. Critics loved it too. I might check it out.
Mr. Popper’s Penguins – Rated PG
Jimmy Carey tries to hard as he tries to make a comedy with penguins. The only movie with penguins I will ever watch either has Morgan Freeman narrating or Burgess Meredith as the penguin.
Next week on DVD DAMN DIRTY APES. Plus sequesl with Robet Downey Jr in drag and chipmunks.
