I was able to go see 30 Minutes or Less. I liked how they took their time with the characters so we could care before all the bombs and bank robberies. It was better then it should have been. This week tons of remakes, growing old with Anne Hathaway, and another Spy Kids for some reason.
These are the movies that were released on Friday August 19th, 2011One Day – Rated PG-13
A boy (Jim Sturgess) and a girl (Anne Hathaway) have one really good day together. This movie is about several other good days they had in the next twenty years. Anne Hathaway is in this so your special lady will cry and you will more then likely be entertained. Verdict – I have a real indifferent feeling about One Day. There is nothing here that seems new and different and must see. We will see if I get dragged to it. Fright Night – Rated R
In the remake of the 1985 movie, Anton Yelchin lives next to a vampire (Colin Ferrell) who keeps on eating all the hot chicks. Two actors have peaked my interest in this one. 1. Colin Farrell as the vampire. Must like Tom Cruise in Collateral Damage I am interested in seeing Farrell play something total evil. 2. DAVID TENNANT (he is the last Dr. Who) Tennant is a great talent and I am interested in seeing him more in normal Hollywood productions. Verdict – Having never seen the original helps a lot in accepting this new Fright Night. I hope the cast is as good as it looks on paper. Conan The Barbarian – Rated R
Conan The Barbarian (Jason Momoa) is out for vengeance against the man who killed his father. This will have nothing to do with the Arnold Schwarzenegger. I firmly believe that they have to show up with something amazing in terms of action and characterization for people to like. Cheese was the reason we watched the 1982 classic. This one seems to add more monsters and less fun lines. Verdict – I hope this is a good fantasy action movie. We have to have something to tied us over until the Hobbit movies come out. Spy Kids: All The Time In The World In 4D – Rated PG
A set of twins hates their step mom (Jessica Alba) who used to be a spy. When Jeremy Piven attacks mommy dearest gets dragged in and thus so are the twins. They are helped by characters from the previous movies. 4D means they give you a scratch and sniff card upon entering the theatre. That sells me on this movie already. Robert Rodriquez does these movies so he can make the Sin Cities and Machetes of the world. I am confused why this was not promoted properly. Verdict – Joel McHale plays the twins dad. SOLD!
Box Office Top 5 Movies In The Country
1. Rise of the Planet of the Apes – Rated PG-132. The Help – Rated PG-13
3. Final Destination 5 – Rated R
4. The Smurfs – Rated PG
5. 30 Minutes Or Less – Rated R Semi surprised that Apes took #1 again but it was very close between #1 and #2. I thought that Final Destination 5 would do worse but from what I hear the deaths are very entertaining. I am pleased that Glee 3D bombed horribly because no one understood what it was.
Still In Theatres
Captain America: The First Avenger – Rated PG-13, Cars 2 – Rated G, The Change-Up – Rated R, Cowboys & Aliens – Rated PG-13, Crazy, Stupid, Love – Rated PG-13, Friends With Benefits – Rated R, Glee: The 3D Concert Movie – Rated PG, Harry Potter And The Deadly Hallows: Part 2 – Rated PG-13, Horrible Bosses – Rated R, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon – Rated PG-13, Winnie The Pooh – Rated G
These are the movies released on DVD Tuesday, August 16th 2011
Priest – Rated PG-13
Paul Bettany plays a priest who kills vampires. Critics hated it but I am always willing to try Vampire movies that have nothing to do with teens, romance, or emotions. The Conspirator – Rated PG-13
This is based on the true story of Mary Surratt, the only woman tried for the assisination of Abraham Lincoln. Even though it is educational, it is directed by Robert Redford and features, Robin Wright, James McAvoy, Evan Rachel Wood, Kevin Kline, and Tom Wilkinson. It will be good. Something Borrowed – Rated PG-13
Ginnifer Goodwin sleeps with Kate Hudson’s fiancé, wacky adventures follow. Like every other romantic comedy even if you do not want to see it, some female will make you. Next week ZOE SALDANA ANGRY, Paul Rudd is stupid, and Katie Holmes reminds us not to be afraid of the dark; but any person who would put her in a movie.
