The Dark Knight Rises, is the name of sequel to 2008’s The Dark Knight.  But we really don’t know much more than that.  Let me break down what we know.

1. Director Christopher Nolan is back and he is bringing back his brother Jonathon and David Groyer to write the script. These guys wrote the last movie.
2. We are fairly sure that Tom Hardy (Star Trek: Nemesis and Inception) has a role. We however are not sure if he is playing a hero or a villain.
3. Filming starts in April.
4. The film is scheduled to be released on July, 20 2012
5. No Riddler or Mr. Freeze

That’s it

I am sure we will get more juicy details before April.  I think most if not all of the cast whom characters didn’t die in the last movie will be back.  Who Tom Hardy is playing is something of a mystery.  Many believe he is the new villain.  With Riddler out, many are now just grasping at straws guessing who Hardy will play.  Guesses range from Dr. Hugo Strange, Bane, or The Black Mask.  My black horse pick is that Hardy is not playing a villain but Detective Harvey Bullock. Yes I said Harvey Bullock.  I think the tooth pick eating Gotham cop will be used as the head of the hunt for Batman after the events of the Dark Knight.  Then again there is probably at lest three other characters that could do the same thing. 

I would be a bad Mac D if I didn’t give in to the persistent rumor that the female lead in this movie will be Catwoman.  Nothing has been said to make anyone else think otherwise but I have a wait and see approach to this rumor.  This will be the biggest movie of 2012 so let the hype begin.
