Metallica's Orion Music + More festival is heading to Detroit this summer. Details are scant at the moment, but they will stage the festival somewhere in the Motor City on June 8th and 9th, 2013. The band promises to announce the exact location, the lineup and ticket information in February.

As reported here yesterday, Metallica are in the early stages of recording a new record, but they don't expect it'll be out until 2014. They have a handful of overseas dates booked for next year, including the five-date Soundwave Festival in Australia, two shows in South Africa and the Rock in Rio festival in September. As of now, the Orion festival is their only confirmed American appearance.
