Soundgarden/ex-Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell will perform on the Wednesday, Rocktober 12 episode of ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" (which will actually air the morning of Thursday, Rocktober 13).

Cornell's video for his new song "The Keeper" can be seen below. The clip serves as the lead single from the soundtrack to the movie "Machine Gun Preacher". Based on a true story, "Machine Gun Preacher" is directed by Marc Forster ("Finding Neverland", "Monster's Ball") and stars Gerard Butler as Sam Childers, a former drug-dealing criminal who finds faith leading him on a path to East Africa. Shocked by the mayhem in Sudan, Childers becomes a crusader for hundreds of refugee children fleeing death and enslavement.

Chris Cornell's live solo disc 'Songbook' will have 16 tracks recorded during the spring outing of his solo acoustic tour and is set to hit stores and digital outlets November 21.  The album will feature songs from his days with Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave as well as his solo material.

** Catch the "Songbook" tour December 4 @ the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor and December 6 @ the Kalamazoo State Theater in Kalamazoo.

Alter Bridge who has been on the road since last year in support of its third record, "AB III" will take 2012 off so that the instrumental members of the band drummer Scott Phillips, bassist Brian Marshall and guitarist Mark Tremonti can return to Creed. Meanwhile, singer Myles Kennedy will get back to work with Slash on his second solo record, on which he will contribute all the vocals.  Kennedy contributed vocals to two songs on Slash's 2010 solo debut and was the frontman for the ex-Guns N' Roses axeman's touring band.

Expect Slash and Creed tours in 2012 and look to 2013 for new material from Alter Bridge.

German hard rock legends the Scorpions will be releasing an record of reworked band classics on titled "Comeblack" available on CD and double-vinyl November 4.
