They’re joined by Halestorm, one of rock’s top touring acts of the past year, as well as U.K. breakthrough rockers Young Guns. Rounding out the bill are up-and-comers Stars in Stereo, making this a stellar four-band package that definitely is a “must-see.”

Who: Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, Lamb of God + More
What: The 2013 Rock on the Range Festival in Columbus, Ohio
When: May 17-19, 2013
Why: Rock on the Range is always one of the premiere events for hard rock acts and this year’s lineup, with reunited ’90s favorites Soundgarden and Alice in Chains leading the way, promises not to disappoint. Add in Stone Sour, Papa Roach, Volbeat, Bullet for My Valentine and one of the first dates for David Draiman‘s Device project and this is definitely a “must-see.”

Who: Sevendust, Coal Chamber + Lacuna Coil
What: 2013 North American Tour
When: March 28 – April 28, 2013 (see dates below)
Why: Following a winter tour featuring Sevendust and Lacuna Coil, the reunited Coal Chamber will unite with both bands to join the fun. All three bands are veteran acts with a loyal following, so this trek will definitely be a thrill. Adding to the run will be up-and-comers Candlelight Red and Stolen Babies.
Sevendust / Coal Chamber / Lacuna Coil 2013 North American Tour:
4/12 — Detroit, Mich. — Harpo’s

What: 2013 ‘Earth Rocker’ North American Tour
When: March 8 – April 20
Why: Clutch have been one of the more solidly consistent rock bands of the last decade and there’s plenty of anticipation for their upcoming ‘Earth Rocker’ album. Add in the fact that the group has lined up a pretty interesting support bill with Orange Goblin, Lionize and Kyng joining in, and this definitely has the makings of a “must-see” tour.

Who: Kid Rock, Buckcherry + Hellbound Glory
What: Rebel Soul Tour
When: Feb. 2 – April 6, 2013 (see dates below)
Why: Kid Rock may have found the perfect pairing with Buckcherry. When it comes to straight-ahead rock and roll, both acts have a knack for it. Sensing a good thing, the two acts just announced a second leg of dates as well. Joining them on the tour will be upstart rockers Hellbound Glory.
Kid Rock / Buckcherry / Hellbound Glory 2013 North American Tour:

What: 2013 North American Tour
When: Feb. 1 – March 30, 2013 (see dates below)
Why: This will easily be one of the most compelling tours of early 2013 as Three Days Grace are touring with My Darkest Days‘ Matt Walst fronting the band after Adam Gontier‘s sudden departure. With Shinedown and Three Days Grace co-headlining two legs of dates with special guests P.O.D., this was already expected to be a hot ticket. But with fans not knowing whether this is the end or a new beginning for Three Days Grace, the ticket becomes all that more intriguing.

When: Feb. 21 – March 24, 2013 (see dates below)
Why: There’s going to be an adjustment period for fans of two bands and it looks as though they’ll get to do it together. Both Flyleaf and Drowning Pool have new vocalists fronting the group, and this North American trek will be one of the first opportunities to check out the new lineups. Stars in Stereo will serve as support.
Flyleaf / Drowning Pool 2013 North American Tour:
3/8 — Grand Rapids, Mich. — The Intersection
3/9 — Detroit, Mich. — St. Andrews Hall

Who: Soundgarden
What: 2013 North American Tour
When: Jan. 16 – Feb. 16, 2013 (see dates below)
Why: Soundgarden’s reunion tour was great, but after a couple of years of touring without any new music, the band is more than happy to work in tracks from their late 2012 release, ‘King Animal.’ This tour will also give fans the chance to see how their new material stands up against their best work from the ’90s.

1/27 — Detroit, Mich. — The Fillmore

Who: Anthrax, Exodus, High on Fire, Municipal Waste + Holy Grail
What: 2013 Metal Alliance Tour

Why: Why even ask?!? Anthrax will be performing their ‘Among the Living’ album in its entirety, Exodus will punch your face off with pure thrash, High on Fire will melt your bones with stoned sludge, Municipal Waste are gonna … well, you know the rest, and Holy Grail round the tour off with some good ol’ heavy metal.

Who: Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, Dying Fetus, The Contortionist
