I've been supporting the fight against hunger every year during my 16 year radio career. It's time to rise up and ROCK HUNGER in Battle Creek and you can play a big role. We are helping out God's Kitchen. Below is some information about God's Kitchen, a link to their website and a link to the page to make a donation.
What: God's Kitchen - Battle Creek is the Cereal City's first and only evening soup kitchen serving a free meal to hungry citizens.
Where: Our meal site is located at First Baptist Church, 80 E. Michigan Avenue, downtown.
When: Meals are served Monday through Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Cost: FREE! There is no income requirement to participate.
History: God's Kitchen - Battle Creek served its first meal on October 11, 2011. Since then, we have served more than 60,400 meals. Our two-year anniversary dinner will be held on Thursday, October 10 (we are closed on Friday, October 11).
Awards: God's Kitchen - Battle Creek received the Certificate of Congressional Recognition, spearheaded by Senator Debbie Stabenow on October 11, 2012. We were recognized for our first year of feed the hungry and senior citizens in Battle Creek.
Volunteer Program: God's Kitchen - Battle Creek is a "Certifying Agency" for the President's Volunteer Service Award, a national volunteer program established by President George W. Bush through the Points of Light Foundation. So far, more than 500 volunteers have served meals at our soup kitchen.
Fundraising Goal: We need to raise $25,000 to complete our current fund drive of $75,000. Q-106 is attempting to raise $10,000 towards that goal.
